Anthropic says the deck exports with editable text and shapes. We unpacked the file to check.
That claim is the main reason a designer would choose Slides over anything that produces a list of bullet points, so it is worth verifying rather than repeating.
Four options, not more
- Webpage, as HTML
- PowerPoint, current fonts
- PowerPoint, basic fonts, labelled: basic fonts work on any computer
Slides exports narrower than Claude Design does. There is no PNG, no video, and no send to Miro or Claude Code from here. If you have read about those, you read about Design, which is a different tile.
What is actually inside the file
A five-slide deck exported as a 26.6 kB .pptx. That size is already the answer, because flattened images would run to megabytes. Unpacked and inspected, the file contains:
- Live text throughout. Every headline and caption is a real text run, not a picture of one
- Fourteen separate shapes on a single slide. The cards are individual objects you can move
- No image files anywhere. Nothing was flattened
- 16:9 widescreen, a proper slide master, and a speaker-notes slide for each slide
The claim holds. You can open the deck in PowerPoint or Keynote and edit it like anything else.
On an unbranded deck, current fonts exported Georgia and Helvetica, which exist on every machine anyway. The elegant serif on screen did not travel. Test this on your own branded deck before promising a client that their typeface survives, and when in doubt send basic fonts, which is predictable.
