Install GitHub Copilot

Get GitHub Copilot running in minutes. Learn how to install the extension in VS Code and set up your account.

GitHub Copilot is an AI pair programmer that helps you write code faster. As a designer, it's a powerful tool for turning your design ideas into interactive prototypes. Let's get it installed!

What You'll Need

  • VS Code (free download from code.visualstudio.com)
  • A GitHub account (free at github.com)
  • About 5 minutes

Installation Steps

Open VS Code Extensions

Click the Extensions icon in the left sidebar (looks like four squares), or press Ctrl+Shift+X (Windows) / Cmd+Shift+X (Mac)

Search for GitHub Copilot

Type "GitHub Copilot" in the search box and click the first result from GitHub

Click Install

Click the green "Install" button. VS Code will download and install the extension.

Sign in with GitHub

After installation, you'll be prompted to sign in. Click "Sign in with GitHub" and authorize Copilot to use your account.

You're Ready!

Once signed in, you'll see a small Copilot icon in VS Code. You're now ready to use AI-powered code suggestions!
